Now Sold Desk Bureau French France Abattant Leather Top

French writing bureau, desk known in France as a secretaire a abattant. Leather, gold tooled writing surface with drawers in the compartment with pigeon holes, further cupboard space below. The mulicoloured marble top reminds us of the colours and shapes in a Klimt background, perhaps we are reading to much into that. Problems are not insignificant in that pieces of veneer are missing, please see specific photos. On the plus side these issues oblige us to take $500/$800 off what one would normally expect to pay for such an item. The desk is still entirely useable as is. Measurements are 76 cm wide 38 cm deep 130cm high.

Leather Top Small Desk Compact Office Antique Style

A small and compact leather top desk with 2 cupboards and 3 drawers. Very handy little size. The age of this one is a bit tricky I would definitely say it is a reproduction but the insides of the drawers make it look like a much older piece. Say an early reproduction circa 1960. Condition report. Large section of veneer missing from left hand drawer. Measurements are 123cm wide, 50 centimetres deep and the height is 70 cm. Price $295

Oak Writing . Sold.

An English oak bookcase incorporating a leather topped writing table or desk with pigeon holes and drawer. This piece separates into two for transport and the base includes two large drawers. Definitely made in England, probably 1910 to 1930.

As previously mentioned in earlier posts, the small base size ( 40c x90c wide ) makes these desks suitable for the most compact rooms. Yet at two metres high it possesses many of the necessities of life. Bookcase, desk and storage below for papers or clothes.

Pray don’t be put off by the blocks under the front legs. Due to the ancient and wobbly nature of our lovely old Victorian shop, the main  i.e. most often walked on, part of the floor is about 2 centimetres lower than the bit next to the skirting board. This will not need lifters on a flat floor $865.
