A large original oil painting of poppies in the impressionist style from the early 1900’s. The frame is a little misleading in that it appears to be 1950’s. One of our knowledgable customers, experienced in this area, pointed out that the cream painted inner slip is probably early 20th century while the outer frame has been replaced. So easy when you know how!
Painted in Belgium, Holland or Northern France the next step is to try and decipher that signature. We have included a black and white shot if anyone has a clue.

An impressive and beautiful pair of Delftware lidded vessels. Stylistically dating from the 16th century, these reproduction items have been made by Boch for Royal Spinx. Both these Flemish companies commenced trading in the early 1800 ‘s and these examples are from the mid 1900’s. For us these classic items would look great in the window or on the mantlepiece or dining table.
Though, in our experience it is our purchasing clients that deliver the most imaginative and elegant settings for the pieces you see at Grays. I sometimes wish I could share the photos I receive of Grays stock in their eventual new homes.

So what’s the bad news? In 1870 someone left a wine glass brimming with burgundy on the top, and there is a ring mark from the foot. Remove it if you wish.
