Pair of Marcel Breuer designed Wassily chairs from the 1920s with strong leather work and good quality chrome frames. We believe these chairs to be authorised reproductions made under licence by Gavina or Knole however there are no impressed marks and only traces of one removed adhesive label. Please note that one chrome horizontal arm tube has been replaced and that is detailed in the photographs (on the extreme right hand side of one of the chairs). Both are in excellent usable condition and feature the sealed rod ends on each of the horizontal rails that are the trademark of an authorised copy. Please see the internet for more information.

Bakelite and Chrome Chair Deco Eames Period Pair 2

We are unable to attribute this pair of bakelite and chrome chairs to any designer. The screws would suggest pre 1960 and the bakelite colour post 1910. We have seen a similar 1920 example by Rene Herbst presently for sale in France that includes some duplicated structural elements in the design. However that one uses a cantilever frame. Also trying to work out the intended purpose of that large hook under the seat!

May we would like to take this opportunity to thank the many knowledgeable readers out there that share their learning and experience to help us solve these little mysteries.
