The main storage unit from a “Scottish” chest of dawers made from flame mahogany veneers in the mid to late 1800s. The last photograph (from the internet is an example of how this chest would appear with the missing stand and the barley sugar columns missing from the front lower half.
What is good about this piece would be a fair question?
1. Useable as intended i.e. a chest of drawers immediately.
2. Very inexpensive.
3. The legs and columns are so much easier to recreate than the chest itself. In fact the columns may be available as reproductions from Graeme Brown’s excellent estblishment in Armadale, Victoria. Even if you don’t tackle this project, why not treat yourself to a visit to this Aladdin’s cave of restoration supplies.
